Homemade of teacher gifts

Homemade teacher gifts tell a teacher, they are appreciated. Anyone can go to buy a gift. It's easy to buy a gift card. A gift that is made will be remembered, and if that teacher made an impression, it should be memorable.

One of the best ways to make something special is that involved the entire class.Last year, my wife was one of two rooms mothers when my daughter kindergarten Klasse.Am end of the year she took all the money left over (less than $ 200) and a scrapbook for teachers and contain some gift cards.

The great part was the Inhalt.Sie each child had to write a sentence about why the teacher meant so much to you and then draw a picture. Interlaced between the drawings were events during the year the gift cards and a series of images from class.

Of course some tears were shed because of what each child said and fact show for your appreciation. Now of course, it is getting much easier kindergarten children than older children, but the process is the same.

Other ideas include things, the teachers would normally buy for themselves. Bundling of resources always makes for a beautiful gift. The important part is something personal from everyone in the class. It can be private, but the personal touch is what makes the difference.Other than scrapbooks songs, it may be something to the class as a video record or tape-a message.Make it personal. same applies with the Group gifts, make it personal images, memories, personalized items are all good options for the einzelnen.Der homemade part comes from what you hineingesteckt.Es need not be expensive, but it must be personal.

When I started making gift baskets, my end product looked store so beautiful as the variety of purchased. I could my products are not preserved. Have a few supplies on hand: a container for a type. It must not necessarily be a basket. It could be a tin container, a substance covered basket, a hat box or even a pair of shoes!Crazy, I know but think darĂ¼ber.Menschen love gift baskets because you have a variety of products in you and you can reuse the container. A perfect reusable gift is A pair of shoes.

Cellophane wrap or shrink wrap. This can enter, in the form of bags, or on a roll kommen.Es are varieties that are coloured or clear or disable a design. I like to keep some varieties on page, and since I want to make gift baskets I buy myself on a roll. I like to use shrink wrap because if it increased heat which wrap around your products and helps you safely keep.

Filler. This can be colorful tissue paper, colorful shredded paper, brown wrapping paper or straw for more rustic looking agreements. All of the above style gift basket use I would be putting together.

Ribbons and bows. This is pretty self explanatory. There are so many varieties out there, but I recommend especially wired Ribbon. It keeps it has to make nice and is very forgiving for the production of arches, especially if you an expert on it.

Shear adhesive tape or glue of dots, fixings like bars and dry floral foam.

ASSEMBLING your great HOMEMADE gift basket

First cut a piece of your cellophane or shrink wrap in a square or circle and place it under your container. You must ensure that there is an extra large piece to cover all items within the container. Can always surplus truncated, but if it is not enough, you must restart.

Take your container and put a small block of flowers in the bottom. It is very easy with a knife or a blade cut your scissors.Make the foam, but he is as high as your Container.Umgeben you with some foam your filler, to ensure to hide the foam.

Then take the item you want to use, are highest in the back and a dowel rod on the back of to secure it with tape.Make sure that your not higher than the top of the object extends dowel rod.For example, if you use a package coffee as your highest object, you have the dowel bar at the top center of the back of the coffee package kommen.Setzen you the other end of the rod plugs down into the floral foam. Can this process if necessary, for shorter items on either side of your highest element repeat.

Place the rest of your elements in the container, their arrangement, so to keep each element in place as possible as visible ist.Jedes set adhesive dot or a piece of duct tape to everyone, and stick it to the next Element.Klebstoff dots work really well for this and easily remove.

Once you have the elements in place, your cellophane around to collect the package and it above you sure it's tightly secured with some tape to protection. Please you can add an arc above on the Ribbon.

If you use shrink wrap, use a blow dryer to a high heat setting and slowly you go back and forth over the Wrap.halten too close the blow dryer, though.Wenn that cools wrap it your shipments to shrink, and you will just have made, a fabulous homemade gift basket!

As one friendship of Bracelelets

how to make friendship bracelets wrist pic

Anyone can learn how to make friendship bracelets with beautiful intricate patterns. Let me show you how, with these easy step by step instructions.

Even if you're a complete beginner, you can make a pretty bracelet like one of these:

how to make friendship bracelets collection

It'll probably take you an hour or so to make your first bracelet. The technique is so easy that you can watch TV at the same time (seriously!).

On this page, I'll show you how to make friendship bracelets in 8 different designs. The cool thing is that it's the exact same easy technique for all the different patterns. I'll show you what the technique is when we get to the instructions.

Here are all 8 friendship bracelet patterns:

Hearts - great for Valentine's Day

Flowers

Diamonds

Rainbows

Stripes - great for sports team colors

Stripes and Dots

Chevrons

Checkered

The trick is something called a braiding disc, or braiding loom. It's just a round piece of cardboard with some slots in it, but it makes bracelet-weaving a lot easier. In the free friendship bracelet instructions below, I'll show you how to make your braiding disc and how to use it.

I'll start out with step-by-step photo instructions, but if you prefer you can also skip ahead to the video tutorial further down the page.

Ready to learn how to make friendship bracelets? First up, you'll need to gather your materials.

Before we get on to how to make friendship bracelets, you'll need to gather up a few materials. All you need is:

embroidery floss - 16 strands*, each 20" (50 cm) long1 piece of cardboard, e.g. breakfast cereal boxpair of scissorsglue

*How many strands you need in each color depends on the pattern (see step 2 of instructions below), but it's always 16 strands in total.

Embroidery floss is a loosely-twisted 6-strand thread. It comes in all colors of the rainbow, including fluorescent and metallic. You can buy it in stores that sewing supplies stores or craft stores. Usually it's sold by the "skein", which is a little bundle about 8 yards long.

On eBay, you can often find embroidery floss for much cheaper than in the store. That's where I get mine - I got a pack of 16 skeins in assorted colors for about $9. That was enough to make all the bracelets on this page and I still have lots left over.

If you live in the USA, it might be worth scanning the listings below to see if you can spot a bargain. Clicking on a link will show you more information about the auction at eBay.

Got your embroidery floss? Great! Let's get onto the fun part of learning how to make friendship bracelets.

Download and print one of my free braiding disk templates:

Template 1 - rainbows, checkers, stripes, stripes & dots
Template 2 - hearts, flowers, diamonds, chevrons

Choose the pattern you would like to make, and cut out the disc for that pattern. Glue to disc on to a piece of cardboard, then cut away the excess cardboard so you've just got the disc. Poke a hole through the black dot in the center, using a pen or pencil. Finally, cut along each of the black lines on the edge, so that the braiding disc has lots of slots around the edge.

Your braiding disc should like like the right-hand picture below.

how to make friendship bracelets braiding disc

Gather up your embroidery floss. The braiding wheel shows you how many pieces you need of each color. For instance, the chevron braiding wheel (pic above) has 11 yellow dots and 5 blue dots on the wheel. So, I need 11 yellow pieces of floss and 5 blue pieces of floss. Each piece should be 20" (50 cm) long. Of course, you can substitute two different colors if you like.

Line up all 16 pieces of floss together, and tie a simple overhand knot like this. Leave about 1" (2.5cm) loose ends poking out:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding knot 1

Then tie another knot directly on top of the first one, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding knot 2

Poke the knotted end of the floss bundle through the hole in the center of the braiding disc, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 3

Then clip one piece of thread into each colored slot, matching the color of the floss to the color of the slot. Your braiding disc should look something like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 3b

The initial pattern of threads on the braiding disc is the only thing that sets the pattern you get on the bracelet. So from this point on, the method for how to make friendship bracelets is the exact same regardless of the pattern.

Braiding your bracelet with the disc is really easy. There are just three steps to learn and repeat. Begin by holding your braiding disc so that the "start" arrow is pointing up.

Step A: See how there are two threads at the very top of the wheel? Un-clip the right-hand thread*, and clip it into the slot just to the right of the two threads at the bottom:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 4

*At the very beginning of your bracelet, the "start" slot will show you which thread to unclip. But later on, the position of the start slot doesn't matter.

Step B:Now there are three threads next to each other at the bottom. Un-clip the left of the three, and clip it in just to the left of the thread at the top:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 4b

Step C:Rotate the whole disk to the left, so that the next pair of threads is at the top:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 4c

Now, just keep repeating Step A, Step B, Step C etc, and your bracelet will grow. For instance, the next step in the sequence would be Step A again, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 4d

There's also a video tutorial further down the page, if you're finding it a bit tricky following the pictures.

Keep on braiding, and after a while you will notice the bracelet growing down through the hole in the center of your braiding wheel, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 5

Every now and then, comb the loose ends of floss with your fingers to stop them from tangling. Also, give the bracelet a bit of a tug to stretch it - it might turn out to be longer than you think!

Once the bracelet is long enough to go around your wrist, un-clip it from the braiding wheel. Finish it off by tying two knots next to each other, about 1/2" (1cm) apart, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 6

Congratulations on finishing your bracelet! To wear it, you poke the big knot at one end through the gap between the two knots at the other end, like this:

how to make friendship bracelets braiding step 7

How did your friendship bracelet turn out? I hope you found my instructions clear. If you have any comments or suggestions or just want to say hi, please contact me with this handy form.

Click the white arrow in the center to play.

(If the video doesn't display, you might need to download the free Adobe flash player.)

If the video keeps stopping and starting, then the best thing to do is pause it and come back in a few minutes when it's fully loaded. Or, just follow my photo instructions instead.

Believe it or not, the method I just showed you for how to make friendship bracelets dates from the Samurai era in Japan. It's called "kumihimo", which means "union of threads". Samurai warriors used kumihimo cords to tie on their armor. (The cords they used probably they didn't have little hearts and flowers though :-)

Now that you know how to make friendship bracelets, you can have fun designing your own patterns. This bracelet designer makes it easy. It's what I used to design the patterns I showed you on this page.

Tips to Save Money When Making Gifts:

Preparation. This may not always be possible but it can save you money to prepare well ahead of Holidays and Special Occasions. Waiting until the last minute usually means needing short cuts and having to buy supplies from more expensive stores (since time restraints don't allow for "shopping around.")

Many craft stores have amazing sales and coupons available but never at the last minute when you need them - I personally know this from lot's of experience! So whenever possible - stock up, get 'em while they're hot and feel free to use this holiday calendar list or read about free reminders for help getting ahead of birthdays and holidays.

Quick Tip: If you find yourself putting something together at the last minute, don't hesitate to use my printable tags to address your homemade gifts and more.

Shop After-Holiday Sales. Many items are available seasonally. Right after a holiday is the best time to get discounted stuff for next year.

Re-use and Re-purpose. Use stuff you have. Save pretty bottles, shop dollar store deals (if you have one) and pick up tins and wooden objects (stuff you can paint or decoupage) from thrift stores for re-purposing.

More Tips & Cheap Homemade Gift Ideas:

Sew, Knit or Crochet. Fabric, yarn and thread can be used to make an endless array of creative and inexpensive homemade gifts.

Homemade blankets and quilts, for example, are timeless and still widely popular homemade gifts, but there are also many other things you can do with fabric, yarn and/or thread. For example, you can make totes, rugs and more with old but shapely sweaters and clothing - definitely a budget winner.

If you're knew to knitting you can get a knitting loom and make a super cute hat or scarf in an evening! It's that easy.

Don't forget to search your house for hidden treasure!
Believe it or not, stuff you don't want can make a great addition to your supply list for future gift making. Check your closet, garage, laundry room, pantry, cupboards and recycle bin. Some of my favorite hidden treasures include: Old spice containersBaby food jarsOld vases from the 70s or beyondSauce, dressing and marinade jarsPickle jars and other nice glass jarsMason jars in all sizesUsed basketsOld plantersUnwanted pitchers or canistersOld frames of any kindOld fabric, including stained or torn lace curtains, tablecloths or clothing that is still in good condition

Keep your eyes out for these types of "treasures" and save them all year long. Saving stuff like this will make or break your day when creating homemade gifts and they will most definitely reduce the cost of any project.

More On...

This box cost $1 and can be made to be beautiful using the easy craft of decoupage...Decoupage. I love cheap homemade gift ideas that use the craft of decoupage. Decoupage is fabulously cheap to do with endless possibilities. You can decoupage almost anything, using images from almost anywhere.

Decoupage is a skill that anyone can acquire, it takes very little practice (you should be able to create something great even with your first try) and has a very low "start-up" cost as well.

Craft Embellishing. There are many other ways to embellish an item you find for cheap. Use a hot glue gun, cover it with fabric, use beads, ribbon, buttons, sewing and more. The key is to find a great "base" for your homemade gift, such as a cheap, unfinished wooden box. Then turn it into a something special, beautiful or meaningful. Many great cheap homemade gift ideas come from such embellishing.

Lavender bottles: easy instructions to simple Lavender wands weave

Weaving Lavender Bottles:
A Traditional Lavender Craft Gift Dating Back Centuries

Lavender bottles are a great way to use up fresh lavender...I don't know about you, but the thought of getting my hands into a craft that dates back centuries makes me giddy. And once you make lavender bottles, you'll understand why this tradition has continued...

Picture yourself weaving your favorite ribbon through the stems of fresh lavender. As you weave, the sweet, relaxing scent of lavender absolutely permeates your skin and nose. Your entire house smells like a field of lavender.

Before you know it, you have a beautiful bunch of lavender, the flowers enclosed and kept safe by a cage of stems and ribbon. Will you give it away or keep it close? My advice - you may want to make enough for both!

Learn To Make These Fragrant Bundles of Caged Lavender
(known as "Lavender Bottles" by the Victorians)

The first thing I do when my lavender plants start to blossom is make lavender bottles. You need fresh lavender to avoid broken stems. I then make fresh lavender bouquets and herb wreathes with lavender flowers. What's left, can be harvested for dried lavender crafts, such as lavender eye pillows and neck wraps.

Lavender Crafts and Lavender Bottles are a fun, nearly free flower craft...

Supplies:

Fresh blossoming lavender - approximately 13 stalks per bottle
(you can select between 11 and 15 as long as you choose an odd number)1/4" ribbon - at least 2 yards
(you may need more for thinner ribbons, raffia works great too)Tools:

Instructions:

Fill a jar or vase with water and pick your lavender stalks, if possible, choosing long, sturdy stalks and placing them in water immediatelyStarting below the flower heads, run you hand down each stalk, removing any random buds or flowers below the flower headsLine up the tops of the flowers, snuggling them as close as possibleTie ribbon snugly around stems right below flower heads leaving all the extra length on one endLine up the flower heads and tie ribon directly underneath around the stems...

Trim short end to 1/4" so it can be hidden in the "bottle" Tip: Always make sure ribbon is pulled snug because as the lavender dries it will shrink just a littleTurn the wand upside down (flower heads pointed to floor)Fold each lavender stem down over the ribbon and flower heads, creating a cage Tip: If a stem breaks, it can still be handled carefully and woven in with the restPull the long length of ribbon to the outside of the cage and start weaving it over one stalk and under the next - if you miss a stalk (and it does happen) it's best to go back to the mistake and fix it or you're bottle will end up messyPull down each stem over the lavender heads and weave ribbon over one stalk and under the next until you have a lavender bottle...

As you weave your way down around the flower heads, continue to keep the ribbon pulled snugOnce you reach the end of the flowers, you're done with the bottleNow, tie the ribbon around the stalks by pulling it around and slipping it back through in a knotIf you want, make a bow with one tail or leave the tail longTrim the bottom of the stalks to desired lengthDone!A finished lavender bottle can be used to scent drawers, closets and rooms...

FYI - My first lavender bottle was a little messy, but since completing that first one, I've found the weaving to be easy and something I look forward to. The wonderful scent, the feel of the fresh lavender all over my hands and the idea of doing something so traditional and lovely... enjoy!

What to Do Once You've Completed These Lavender Flower Crafts?

If you're having company, you can make these fragrant wands to sit in a vase by the guest bed or to welcome guests as they come through your door. You can give one or more to a friend for the fun of it or add it for relaxation purposes to a homemade bath and body basket. You can even use them as a functional embellishment by slipping them underneath the ribbon of a wrapped gift.Traditionally, they are used to scent linen and clothing drawers and closets or simply for air fresheners in any room. I've used them to make keepsake name cards for an afternoon garden salad get-together. See below for an example - this was a lot of fun...

Lavender crafts make great keepsakes when used to decorate place settings as well as wrapped gifts and more...Lavender Flower Crafts Name Cards

Make lavender bottle name cards by weaving a bottle for each person, attaching a tag to each one with a name on it and placing them one by one next to a plate setting to show people where to sit. Then they get to take it home afterwards. So fun!

Lavender Wands: Simple Flower Gift

Lavender wands make a simple flower gift whether you have fresh or dried lavender...If you don't grow lavender you can buy some fresh or dried to make lavender wands.

Lavender wands are small bundles of lavender, tied together with raffia or ribbon. They will scent a room and look lovely laid across the night stand or sitting on a table in a vase.

The buds tend to shed, however, so put them in a bowl, on a napkin or anywhere that you won't mind a few bits of lavender falling off.
